Beyond Tuesday Morning - Karen Kingsbury This one was really far-fetched..even more than the first book. It was at least a good story told well, you just have to shut your brain off because it's too unbelievable.
Finnikin of the Rock - Melina Marchetta Slow beginning, but got a lot better after the first 100 pages or so.

The One and Only Ivan

The One and Only Ivan - This would make a perfect read-aloud book with the kids. Loved it.
The Shoemaker's Wife: A Novel - Adriana Trigiani It was a little slow going and hard to get into, but overall it was a really good story. You will be hungry while reading, the descriptions of the food left my mouth watering.
The Dressmaker: A Novel - Kate Alcott The plot focuses mainly on what comes after the ship sinks which was pretty interesting. Love triangles usually ruin a book for me, but this one wasn't awful.
Plain Truth - Jodi Picoult Worst ending I have read in a long time. Why would Sarah "protect" her daughter by killing her baby and letting her take the blame for it? It makes no sense.
A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini I cried. It made me realize how good we have it in this country, especially as women. The two women in the story felt real and were very relatable. Definitely one of my new favorites.
All Creatures Great and Small - James Herriot Based on the description, this isn't a book I would normally see myself enjoying, but I really liked it.
Understanding Death and the Resurrection - Jay A. Parry, Donald W. Parry I learned a lot of new things reading this book. The only reason it's a 4 instead of a 5 is just because some parts of it were too repetitive.
The Boy in the Suitcase - Lene Kaaberbol;Agnete Friis The story line and the way it was written reminded me a lot of a cleaned up version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Articles of Faith - James E. Talmage This was perfect for me! I've always felt a little behind everyone else with basic principles, and this explains so much about things I've wondered about in the past.
Every Day - David Levithan I really liked this book. The concept was different from anything I've read before. My only complaint was that it seemed like the author had an agenda concerning homosexuals that he pushed a little too hard onto the reader.
The Iron King - Julie Kagawa I made it halfway through waiting for it to get better, but it didn't. it drives me crazy to leave a book unfinished, but I just can't get into this one.
Son - Lois Lowry The giver is such a good book on its own, and the rest of the books in this series don't really compare. I loved the first third of this book, it told the same story as the giver in a different point of view. The rest of it went a different direction with super natural themes that just didn't seem to fit.
The Death of Bees - Lisa O'Donnell I should have read the reviews before starting. I didn't get very far but the language is awful and the story line is headed in a direction I don't care to find out about.

The Selection

The Selection - It was like a cross between The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. It just didn't work for me. Nothing really happened in the book, there was basically no conflict and the main character is was not relatable or likable for me at all.
